Simplicity hides the complexity

The piece that began the blocks project. Dimensions are roughly 26" wide by 12" high.

I wanted to expose the fact that this was not traditional art board, so no gesso was used, and no attempt to hide that in any manner.
For that reason the right hand side of the piece also has an exposed torn edge, counterpointed by the cut edge opposite.
Some blocks feature color, some are slightly warped, all of them each a little different.
I literally began creating this piece right on the sidewalk one night on the streets of Point Richmond while having deep thoughts upon the nature of art, its purpose, abstraction, form, line and composition. I find this piece, and this series extremely thought provoking and interesting and I hope you do as well.
